Brooklyn Radiation Oncology Celebrates First Anniversary
State-of-the-Art Radiation Center Hosts Cancer Survivors and Public Officials at Special Event, March 29th
Brooklyn Borough President to Present Proclamation to Radiation Oncology Center for Outstanding Service in Brooklyn Community

WHAT: Brooklyn Radiation Oncology, a new state-of-the-art radiation oncology facility in the Sheepshead Bay area of Brooklyn, invites local cancer survivors and community members to attend a special event celebrating its first anniversary on Thursday, March 29th. The event will feature several special guests including Daniel Foster, colon cancer survivor and member of the Colon Cancer Alliance – Brooklyn Chapter and Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn Borough President. Highlighting the event will be Markowitz presenting a special proclamation to Paul Gliedman, M.D., medical director of Brooklyn Radiation Oncology Center, for the center’s outstanding service in the community.

Those in attendance will receive a tour of the facility, a cancer education packet and the opportunity to speak with the renowned cancer specialists at Brooklyn Radiation Oncology.

The facility offers patient access to a highly trained team of board certified radiation oncologists using the most advanced treatment options for cancer. The center is equipped with a Varian Clinac© iX Linear Accelerator capable of delivering Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT). Under the direction of the physicians, these advanced clinical treatment options permit precise targeting of radiation to a tumor, sparing critical normal organs, providing for better outcomes and fewer side effects for patients.

“Brooklyn is fortunate to have top rate cancer specialists and access to innovative radiation therapy technology.” said Dr. Gliedman, M.D. “Now Brooklyn patients can stay in the local area and receive equivalent state-of-the-art treatment without having to travel to Manhattan”.
